Someone’s opening up a new bar named Bardo on Bladensburg Road, occupying the current location of the “Tire Base” tire shop at 1200 Bladensburg Road, as well as some adjoining buildings. It will feature “New Tavern, Brewpub with microwave nachos, outdoor BBQ grill for Summer Garden”.
UPDATE: This project appears somewhat related to the old Dr. Dremo’s in Arlington, which originally had the name Bardo and the owners were looking to open a brew pub using Bardo’s recipes. ABRA documents show “William Irwin Stewart” submitted the application, and he was the owner of Dr. Dremo’s.

But why at the “Tire Base” tire shop at 1200 Bladensburg Road?
A bar is nice, but you can’t buy tires there. What did the ANC say, what are the neighbors saying. It is clear to me tire stores are endangered. How could this happen?
What that strip needs is a liquor store.
What would be REALLY excellent on B’burg Rd is a 24-hr drive thru tire shop and liquor store, so you could get your flats plugged and a 40 at the same time. Oh, and for the hipsters who are bound to complain, add a bike lane.
Winning idea with the bike lane, divided into “Fixies” and “All Others” of course..
Ding Ding, Ironically on your left.
