Wow- check out this home on Orren Street for $369k! From the RedFin listing:
The whole package! Beautifully updated 3BR 2BA row house near hot H St. Brand new eat-in kitchen, updated bathrooms, espresso HWF’s, charming period details, designer paint and finished lower level -perfect family room or addl bedroom. Sweet front porch & parking. Walk-score 88.
One thing I really like is that they kept the original layout of the house, giving the home separate dining and living rooms instead of the “open floor plan” that a lof of gut jobs do. What do you think- bargain or hoodwink? I’m thinking this is a good deal, but leave your thoughts in the comments.
Original listing with more photos is here.
UPDATE: Home sold for $426,500.

I’m shocked it’s still no the market. A great deal.
@ToTville @imgoph have you seen the house currently available on Owen place? Beautiful remodel job – only one I’ve liked thus far from pics.
@mstharrington @ToTville 1229 Owen? I went to the open house, realtor said they had an offer they’d likely accept. not sure if it closed.
@IMGoph @totville that’s it! Knew it would get snapped. Was it as pretty in person as on the photos? Interested to see what it sells for.
@mstharrington @totville it wasn’t bad. i liked some of the detail in the kitchen, for example, but the basement seemed full of shortcuts.
@IMGoph @totville back in 2008 I lived on Trinidad Ave and LOVED it. Original hardwoods, huge windows. Some great stuff in that area.
Looks nicely detailed and well staged. Carpet in the basement might deserve a close look.
Already sold. Another place my finacee and I put an offer on. We went all the way up to 400K and still got beat. I’ll be interested to see what it sold for. Also, another example of a relator under pricing a property – this time by at least 30K or more.
My wife and I put in an offer for 390K which I thought was crazy high already. Upstairs was in rough shape and drywall was roughly put up to cover damaged plaster. The bricks needed to be repointed as well.
Yeah, i was excited about 400K, but our past experience I knew the place was going to go for at least that. The backyard was in pretty rough shape as well. I hope the market isn’t creating a mini-housing bubble in this area.
Apparently this place sold for well over 400K, but it still hasn’t closed. Seems odd to me. Also, aren’t the prices in this neighborhood getting a bit out of hand?
Anyone know how much this sold for yet?
