From the MPD-5D listserv, local citizen-gadfly Kathy Henderson alleges that a drunk driver struck several vehicles in the 1700 block of Lang Place NE on Friday night, driving so “recklessly that one of her wheels came off”. And then, according to her unnamed sources, MPD let the driver go:
A woman who appeared to be driving under the influence Friday night damaged several vehicles; she drove the wrong way down the 1700 block of Lang Place NE at approximately 3:00 a.m. Was this woman arrested? Neighbors are reporting that she was assisted by officers after driving so recklessly that one of her wheels came off.
Were there officers patrolling in the area at the time of this incident? We need extra vigilance, including sobriety check points to maintain order and safety in PSA 507. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
MPD’s Lt Jeter responded, stating that they had not made an arrest (but not providing clarification on whether the incident occurred):
Hello Ms. Henderson,
I checked the arrest for that date as well as the day after (Fri. & Sat) and time frame and I didn’t see any arrest that appeared to be related. Regarding patrols in the area at that specific time I cannot say for sure. We can however, consider check points in the area if warranted.. Is this an isolated incident, or something that is occurring frequently? Happy Holiday season to you and yours!!

We tried to find evidence of damage Sudnay evening on Lang Place NE in the 1600 and 1700 blocks, but couldn’t find much. A few cars had some small dents, but it wasn’t clear if it was old or new damage. As we’ve noted before, Ms. Henderson is possibly under criminal investigation herself, according to our sources (which have been reliable in the past).
