BP Gas Station, from the ToTville Chopper
Well, here’s one crime in DC that won’t go unreported: During last night’s evening shift change at the triple-murder gas station*, suspects forced their way in to rob the gas station. Fortunately, the MPD fifth district robbery squad was close by and observed the masked men running away.
From MPD’s Lt. Bernat:
On 1/24/13 at approximately 2310 hours Complainant-1 was working as the evening clerk at the BP Gas Station located at 1376 Florida Ave NE when he unlocked and opened the front door to let in the night clerk. As the night clerk entered, three masked suspects ran in behind him. Once inside, the suspects punched C-1 about the head, took currency from the cash register and fled out of the front door. At that exact time, a Robbery unit in an unmarked vehicle was passing by the gas station and observed the three masked suspects exit the gas station office and start running. The Robbery units pursued the suspects and, without losing sight of them, captured all three a short distance away from the gas station. Recovered nearby was the US currency taken from the cash register. Subjects were placed under arrest Great Job by the RIP (robbery) Unit!
*The gas station at Holbrook/Florida is so-called to differentiate it from “the BP” at Morse/Bladensburg, which actually used to be a BP a couple years ago and everyone still calls it “the BP”

Great news! Have they been released yet to commit more crimes- or will that happen tomorrow?
I’d wager a bet that they’ve been released. Unfortunately, there’s no way to know, as MPD did not release the name of the people arrested.
Joe Englert also referred to that gas station in a comment on Frozen Tropics a few years ago as a “petty crime bazaar.” I had a dude try to sell me a cat carrier one time when I was getting gas. By the way, that triple murder was the night we moved into the neighborhood. Things are much better now.
@ToTville @HStreetDC_ I live across the street from that gas station.
@essbreezy @ToTville Cops were right there.Unmarked car. Heavier patrols b/c many muggings nearby in last week or so. Be careful!
