Webb Elementary, following a fire in July 2012
MPD is investigating the death of a person whose body was found this morning on the playground of the former Webb Elementary School:
Today, Thursday, February 7, 2013,shortly before 8 am, Fifth District officers were called to the 1300 block of Childress Street, NE, for a report of an unconscious person.
When officers arrived they found an adult male in a playground area. The man was dead at the scene. Homicide detectives are on the scene working to determine how and when the man died.

If it really was just off of Childress Street, then it sounds like this was straight-up at the rec center, and not at the Webb school at all. Unsure, though, since I don’t know the details.
The only playground on Childress St is the one by Trinidad Rec. Webb Elementary doesn’t have a playground, just a parking lot. Presumably, since lots of kids use that playground every day, they wanted to associate the body with the closed and empty school rather than the active Rec Center.
