Help Name DC United’s Custom Brew by DC Brau

From a reader at DC United:

Just wanted to pass along this pretty sweet morsel of news – we announced this morning, along with DC Brau, a “Brand the Brew” contest for a limited-edition beer that they are specifically making for D.C. United. What’s even cooler is that the beer created will be Washington, DC’s first team-specific beer.

D.C. United, in collaboration with DC Brau Brewing Company, LLC, announced that DC Brau will brew a limited edition D.C. United specific beer – the only one of its kind in the DC sports world. While the beer is currently without a name, the two have partnered to launch a contest giving D.C. United fans the opportunity to name the new brew. Fans can submit their suggestions online.

The special DC Brau craft beer will be a unique, one-of-a-kind brew, crafted specifically for D.C. United and its fans to enjoy. One thousand gallons of the beer will be produced and will be made available exclusively at participating D.C. United official bar partners and at the DC Brau Brewing Company.

The D.C. United “Brand the Brew” contest will run until May 29. The final list of fan suggestions will be given to a panel of D.C. United players to choose the winning name to appear on beer. The winner will receive a field-side D.C. United gameday experience for two and bragging rights for naming the new D.C. United and DC Brau beer. The brew is planned to become available for order on June 11.

Thanks to a reader for sending this in. Local production company Hard Head Films has started releasing weekly episodes of “Real Houswives of Benning Road,” posting a new episode each Tuesday.  Focusing on the area around Benning Road east of the river, this show contains many notable features- from the Shrimp Boat to prominently-placed packs of David sunflower seeds (seriously, all the other brands suck).

If you missed the first two, catch up now on this local production:

DC Council candidate Paul Zuckerberg, “DC’s top marijuana defense lawyer”, is holding a 4/20 rally event right in view of the Capitol from 11am – 4pm this Saturday:

The Committee to Elect Paul Zukerberg to the DC Council in the April 23, 2013 Special Election has announced that it will host a free rally and concert at the Capitol on Saturday, 4/20/13. Acts include the Originators (reggae), Daryl Davis (boogie woogie), the Unfortunate Sons (rock) and headlining will be Congo Sanchez of the Thievery Corporation. Afterwards, you’ll have time to attend a local Trinidad event: the Twerk and Rumble from 4pm-11pm.

Upcoming Event: Twerk & Rumble

It’s hard not to notice this upcoming event- “Twerk & Rumble” is coming to Tony’s Gym (a local boxing gym on Mount Olivet Road) on April 20th from 4-11pm.  If you need the details, they’re on the above poster, or you can probably find a similar poster stapled to a tree on your street (they’re all over the place).

Anyone ever been to Tony’s Gym for an event?

Tomorrow: Grab Some H Street NE History

Sadly, the H Street Playhouse has to move from its home due to rising rents.  Thanks to new development, a bar/restaurant seems more lucrative than a community theatre that’s called H Street its home for years.

NOTE: this post was mistakenly scheduled to post a week late.  The garage sale occurred January 19 (last Saturday). Sorry about that.

Tomorrow, they’re holding a garage sale, and you have a unique chance to help support H street Playhouse while grabbing some cool stuff- props, furniture, costumes, sound equipment, and more!

Saturday, January 19, 12-6pm.  1365 H Street NE.
